In Summer 1988, ground was broken on the resort and 4 years later the complex held its grand opening ceremony as the Euro Disney Resort.

Unlike its Tokyo counterpart, the resort immediately faced problems after opening and it took the resort a further 2 years to actually turn a profit.

Now over 30 years later, the resort has become one of the most attended resorts in Europe and has become a pioneer in recent years for its entertainment offerings.
