The Weazel Independent is an offbrand publication and was founded by a technically illegal group of former Weazel News editors looking to stick it to their former bosses. In the current universe of the Grand Theft Auto video game franchise, Weazel News is Rockstar Games' parody of Fox News in the US.
When Weazel News shutdown its printing operations following a failure of a newspaper launch, a disgruntled breakaway group of laid off employees stole a printing press from the office to setup their own alternative source of journalism: The Weazel Independent.
